6th international biennale "Pastel d’Opale", France 2024
The 6th international biennale "Pastel d'Opale", France, was held last month, In the north of France, Saint-Léonard, commune de l'agglomération Boulonnaise. From 9th March to 24th March 2024 visitors were able to see she exhibition with several paintings on soft pastel, made by many different artists.
This is a renowned international event with an interesting pastel exhibition, pastel painters from numerous countries and several activities. For 16 days, different demonstrations and stages organized by Pastel d'Opale are carried out, as well as different talks and activities for the general public.
At the 2024 edition of the International Biennial "Pastel d'Opale", 140 dossiers and about 418 pastels were submitted, of which the selection committee chose about 184 pastels by 65 artists from 7 different countries. Although I was not able to attend the event in person, Mamut had its small participation supporting the selected painters.
The Mamut Prize went to the Pastel painter and member of the Société des Pastellistes de France, Mireille Ledrappier, for her floral paintings, “Magnolia de Bresson” and “Jonquilles et Narcisses.” The award was presented by Mme Françoise Guillaume, president of the salon.
This year the special guest of honor was Aurelio Rodriguez Lopez, a renowned Spanish pastelist painter. Aurelio was born in Génave, Jaén, 1958. Since he held his first individual exhibition in Madrid in 1979, Aurelio Rodríguez has followed an artistic career based on research and learning various techniques and forms of expression. He uses mostly Soft Pastel, Drawing techniques and Oil.
